Sinas wants random drug tests among police trainees

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Debold Sinas wants to intensify anti-illegal drugs measures among police trainees.

In his speech during the 15th founding anniversary of the PNP Training Service on Thursday, Sinas said he wants to implement random drug testing among the trainees.

"On the first day, all participants should undergo the random drug test. Ang gagawin niyo diyan, alam niyo 'yung style, first day ipon, ipunin then i-drug test..." Sinas said.

"So effectively immediately, pag mag-open tayo ng calls on the first day, maski ano pa 'yang opening mo, after that, cordon the area then have the drug test..." he added.

Police trainees should always bear in mind that illegal drugs have no place in the organization, according to Sinas.

"I'm hoping sa training niyo, sabihin niyo bawal na bawal ang droga. Bawal ang gumamit ng droga, bawal ang magprotect ng droga, bawal tumanggap ng suhol galing sa mga drug lords," he said.

During his stint as chief of the National Capital Region Police Office, Sinas became known for conducting random drug tests among Metro Manila cops.

He had done this during his inspections to police stations.
