Duterte goes after petty graft, too; dangles P10K to tipsters

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday urged the public to report corruption in government agencies and give helpful information, saying tipsters will be rewarded with money.

In a televised address, Duterte said petty graft is “perpetuated almost everywhere” by some corrupt employees in government.

“Iyong mga nasa window ng business permit, ‘yang mga clearances, papahirapan ang tao kaya ang sabi ko sa inyo, if you want to earn money, good money, ‘pag maganda ang kaso, malaki ang lugi sa gobyerno, report it to the person that you trust without giving your name and number,” Duterte said.

“Ang hinihingi ko lang ang opisina at kung magkano, ako na ang mag-follow-up at tsaka ‘yong medyo maliliit, P10,000,” he added.

He warned the people in government to stop their corrupt practices under his administration.

“Huminto talaga kayo maski ngayon lang. Next administration, fine, balik kayo sa dati, wala akong pakialam pero sa ngayon, ‘wag kayo maghinanakit, ‘wag kayo magalit sa akin kasi ako galit din sa inyo,” he said.

Duterte read several names from a list who have been dismissed and facing administrative sanctions for wrongdoings, adding that he will reveal more in the coming weeks.

As he bared the identify of the petty grafters, he refused to divulge the list of congressmen who allegedly have links to corrupt practices involving projects in their respective districts.

He said he could not name because they belong to a co-equal branch of government, the legislature.—LDF, GMA News
