46 cops tested positive for drugs from Jan. 1 to Dec. 18, Sinas says

A total of 46 policemen have tested positive for using illegal drugs this year, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Debold Sinas revealed on Monday.

Sinas said the period covering the drug tests conducted was from January 1 to December 18, 2020.

He said that the police officers' cases are still with the PNP's Internal Affairs Service.

"As to the status of the case, tinanong na po namin ang IAS on the case dito, kung ilan na po 'yung na-recommend for dismissal at ilan na po 'yung ongoing po out of the 46..." Sinas said.

Sinas said 20 of these 46 cops were with the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

Before he was named chief of the PNP last month, Sinas headed the NCRPO.

As PNP chief, he has vowed to get rid of cops involved in illegal drugs. — BM, GMA News
