RFID interoperability test in tollways finished by end February, says TRB

Tests on the interoperability in tollways of the radio frequency identification (RFID) systems for transport operators will be accomplished by the end of February, the Toll Regulatory Board said on Sunday.

In a forum, TRB spokesperson Julius Corpus said that the interoperability of RFIDs remains partial as Easytrip is still undergoing testing for other tollways.

“Baka at the end of February, we will come to know kung naging maayos na po ‘yung testing nila,” he said.

“Phase by phase po, puwede nang i-implement kung saan puwede na ring  mabasa ‘yung tinatawag na EasyTrip tags dito sa Autosweep,” he added.

Currently, Easytrip can only operate in North Luzon Expressway (NLEx), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx), Cavite Expressway (CAVITEx), C5 Southlink, and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX).

Aside from  Skyway, South Luzon expressway (SLEx), STAR Tollway, Tarlac–Pangasinan–La Union Expressway (TPLEx), Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway (NAIAx), and the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX), Autosweep can also be used in Easytrip tollways.

“’Yung Autosweep sa SLEX o San Miguel Group ay i-register lamang sa ngayon sa Easytrip at magagamit niyo na po 'yan sa Easytrip tollways,” Corpus said.

“’Yun naman pong reverse nyan, 'yung EasyTrip na mabasa ang Autosweep , ‘yan po ay pinagdadaanan ngayon ng testing,” he added,

In November last year, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said the RFID tags for cashless payment in various expressways could be possible by June 2021. —LBG, GMA News
