Marikina mega COVID-19 facility can vaccinate 10,000 a day, says Teodoro

Marikina City Mayor Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro said Wednesday its mega vaccination facility could vaccinate 10,000 people a day.

"We will open the Marikina City Mega Vaccination Facility that can administer COVID-19 vaccine to around 10,000 people per day,” Teodoro said.

“We can vaccinate 10,000 people in a day because we have 10 vaccination stations at our mega vaccination facility here in the Marikina Sports Complex,” he added.

The said facility is located at Barangay Sta. Elena.

According to Teodoro, the vaccination center also has a monitoring facility which is intended for those who will experience adverse reactions after being inoculated.

"Ang isa pang kakaiba rito, mayroon tayong care monitoring facility or infirmary kung sakaling may adverse reaction. Pwede doon gawin 'yung initial medical treatment.

The city's storage facility is also near to the vaccination center, meaning the transportation of COVID-19 vaccines will not be difficult, Teodoro said.

Vaccination process

He said the city's vaccination process includes the screening process, the vaccination itself, and the observation stage or the care monitoring stage.

Teodoro said the screening process is the step of determining if the individual can be vaccinated based on their medical condition.

After the vaccination proper, the care monitoring stage will determine if the vaccine has negative reactions on the person.

If ever there is an adverse reaction to the one inoculated, Teodoro said the local government has prepared an indemnification fund of about P5 million.

Teodoro also said he would sign an executive order that will create a task force for the city’s vaccination program. Some medical experts have already volunteered to assist in Marikina's inoculation program.

According to Teodoro, most city residents want to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“Aptly, it can be described as cautious optimism.

A group of experts was created to help in explaining to the residents the necessary information they need to learn about COVID-19 vaccines.

-NB, GMA News
