Roque credits Duterte for infra projects, tells critics off

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque Jr. on Friday lashed out at President Rodrigo Duterte's critics at the unveiling of a cutter head that will be used to bore tunnels for the construction of the country's first subway.

Roque claimed Duterte will be remembered for infrastructure projects, the country's response to COVID-19, and universal health care and free tuition.

“Let today’s event be recorded in the annals of Philippine history as another first of the Duterte administration and to his critics, I have only this to say: Manigas kayong lahat!” Roque said.

Roque called out Duterte’s critics whom he said would not stop until they regained power.

Duterte remains popular despite criticisms of his handling of the COVID-19 crisis that resulted in the worst economic contraction in seven decades, his friendly relations with China, and the killings linked to his war on drugs, and the perceived crackdown on dissent.

Roque said the arrival of the cutter head was an indication of the “renaissance of Philippine infrastructure” under Duterte.

“Although we were a bit delayed in having our subway, now we can say we have truly modernized our transportation in this country,” the spokesman said. -Virgil Lopez/NB, GMA News
