At least 3,855 people have remained stranded in different ports across the country due to Tropical Storm Auring, the Philippine Coast Guard said Sunday.

As of 8 a.m., PCG said people stuck in ports in Northern Mindanao, North Eastern Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Western Visayas, Central Visayas and Bicol regions are passengers, drivers, and cargo helpers.

Also, the PCG said 67 vessels, 1 motorbanca, and 1, 602 rolling cargoes were stranded in ports.

At least 64 vessels and 40 motorbancas are taking temporary shelter as a precautionary measure against Auring's threat.

Most of the stranded people were reported from Eastern Visayas with 2,154 passengers, drivers, and helpers; as well as six vessels, and 781 rolling cargoes.

Ports where stranding were reported included the Port of Liloan Ferry Terminal, Port of San Ricardo, Port of Sta Clara, Port of Balwarteco, and Port of Dapdap.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 remained hoisted over areas in Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte on Sunday morning as Tropical Storm Auring slowed down, PAGASA said.

At 7 a.m., Auring was located at 370 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur with maximum sustained winds of 65 km per hour and gustiness of up to 80 km/h, moving west northwestward at 10 km/h.

Auring may initially make landfall over the Dinagat Islands-Eastern Samar area between Sunday evening or Monday early morning, according to PAGASA. —LBG, GMA News
