CSC to conduct civil service exams online amid the pandemic

The Civil Service Commission on Thursday said it is planning to conduct civil service examinations online amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an interview on CNN Philippines, commissioner Aileen Lizada said the CSC is also eyeing to conduct a pen-and-paper test in areas with poor internet connection.

She said the CSC already received the go-signal from the Inter-Agency Task Force to continue with the written exams this year.

Lizada said CSC employees will personally go to the area with poor internet signal to conduct the written test.

“Hindi na kailangang pumunta sa ibang region… The CSC will go to that region or to the area to give the pen-and-paper test,” she said.

She added that a pilot run of the online and written examinations will be conducted soon.

In October last year, the CSC said it was looking at how it could conduct civil service exams online as a way to adapt to the “new normal.”

The CSC cancelled all written career service exams in 2020 due to the health crisis.

The CSC also previously said it was studying the possibility of deferring the requirement of certification for civil service eligibility amid the pandemic. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
