Active COVID-19 cases at House of Representatives now at 29


The House of Representatives recorded 29 active cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of March 16, Tuesday.

Because of this, House Secretary General Mark Llandro Mendoza said all committee hearings would be conducted through videoconferencing.

“We are not looking into a lockdown. We are implementing all safety measures to address the current COVID situation,” Mendoza told reporters.

He said most of the cases were mild.

Further, Mendoza said Speaker Lord Allan Velasco had reduced the number of employees who would physically report to the chamber to 30%.

Sessions would be conducted until 6 p.m. starting March 17, Wednesday.

The country has so far reported a total of 631,320 cases of COVID-19 with 560,736 recoveries, 12,848 fatalities and 57,736 active cases.  — DVM, GMA News
