PNP Press Corps office temporarily closed after cameraman tested positive for COVID-19

The office of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Press Corps was temporarily closed after a cameraman tested positive for COVID-19, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana said on Wednesday.

In a message to reporters, Usana said the office will be closed for now for disinfection.

He advised those who had contact with the cameraman to take swab tests and isolate themselves until they receive a negative result.

“The Public Information Office personnel are also required to take their swab tests especially those who have direct contact with the PNP Press Corps,” he said.

“Similarly, disinfection in PIO offices shall be done,” he added.

Last week, PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas also tested positive for the disease.

The PNP on Tuesday reported another fatality due to COVID-19 among its personnel, bringing the total deaths to 34.

As of Monday, the total number of PNP personnel who have contracted COVID-19 reached 12,343 with 103 new infections.

Of the total number, 11,391 have already recovered while 918 are still active cases. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
