Over 2,000 PNP health personnel vaccinated vs COVID-19, says Eleazar

More than 2,000 health personnel of the Philippine National Police have received COVID-19 vaccines as coronavirus cases continue to surge, PNP officer-in-charge Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar said Tuesday.

"Sa awa ng Diyos, mayroon kaming 2,374 na nabakunahan na mga health care worker namin (PNP) sa Metro Manila pati na rin sa ibang rehiyon," Eleazar said on Balitanghali.

The launch of the government's vaccination program, which began this March, covered healthcare workers including health personnel of police and military hospitals and health facilities.

The military, for its part, previously said 2,290 of its healthcare workers have received COVID-19 vaccines.

Meanwhile, Eleazar disclosed that the country's police organization registered 1,446 active COVID-19 cases among its personnel. Of the total number, 61% are from Metro Manila while 39% are from other regions.

Eleazar said PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas, who has COVID-19, made an order to increase the number of isolation facilities for infected policemen.

"Si PNP Police General Chief Sinas... nagbigay ng guidance na maghanap ng additional facility sa Camp Crame na gawing isolation facilities (Chief Sinas instructed us to find more isolation facilities in Camp Crame) while coordinating with other agencies," the police official said.—Consuelo Marquez/AOL, GMA News
