Doctor treats COVID-19 patient inside car due to filled wards
As COVID-19 wards and facilities reach full capacity, a doctor at a private hospital in Cavite had no choice but to treat a virus-stricken patient inside a car.
According to Emil Sumangil on "24 Oras" report, Dr. Jamie Amposta was working at her hospital's emergency room during the weekend when a 66-year-old woman who was having difficulty breathing was brought to the hospital in a car.
Amposta said they offered to provide the patient with medical services, such as oxygen support, in the vehicle.
"Punong puno na po ang aming mga tent. In-offer ko sila na pwede silang bigyan ng serbisyo pero doon lang sa sasakyan. May bill pa rin ang pasyente siyempre," Amposta said in the television report.
(Tents were full. I offered my services inside their car. There is still a hospital bill for the patient.)
A day later, the patient was finally transferred to a tent to continue treatment, said Amposta.
Amposta, meanwhile, asked the government to provide hundreds of additional beds for hospitals, adding that the budget must also be allocated for health workers. — Consuelo Marquez/DVM, GMA News
