SC officials meet with Sinas, other PNP officers over various concerns

Supreme Court (SC) officials led by Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo and senior officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) had a virtual meeting on Thursday to discuss various issues, the high tribunal said.

The meeting focused on developments following the March 23 statement of the SC, which called for the use of body cameras for the service of search and arrest warrants and denounced the killings of and threats against lawyers and judges.

“The meeting was productive as it gave the PNP the opportunity to share significant progress in addressing the issues raised in the statement of the Supreme Court,” the SC said in a statement.

“Both institutions committed to continue working together consistent with their mandates for the betterment of the Filipino people.”

Gesmundo was joined in the meeting by Justices Marvic Leonen, Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa, and Ramon Paul Hernando, as well as Court Administrator Midas Marquez and SC spokesperson Brian Keith Hosaka.
