Close to 60K complaints filed over ECQ cash aid

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has received a total of 59,669 complaints from individuals involving the roll out of the cash assistance for the two-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period in March.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said of the total, 24,421 cases have been resolved, while 39,781 are under deliberation, including some which have been endorsed to concerned agencies.

“We target to resolve all complaints before the May 15 deadline for distribution,” Año said in Filipino.

A total of P22.9 billion has been set aside for the financial assistance of P1,000 per individual, with a maximum of P4,000 per family to residents affected by ECQ in National Capital Region, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal or the “NCR Plus area.”

The DILG chief said that to date, 74.35 percent of the amount has been disbursed benefitting a total of 17,037,122 individuals.

Local government units have been given until May 15 to distribute the assistance.

The DILG earlier said it has set up a Joint Monitoring and Inspection Teams that will “address complaints or grievances from their constituents concerning the financial aid, monitor LGU compliance with applicable guidelines, seek the assistance of higher authorities in case of undue delay or systemic anomalies in the distribution, and cause the filing of administrative or criminal cases against public officials or individuals involved in irregular or unlawful practices relative to said financial aid.”
