Robredo gets first dose of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine

Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday got her first dose of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in Quezon City.

In a statement, Robredo said she got the vaccine with the members of her staff since they all fall under the A3 category who are persons with comorbidities.

“Done with my first dose of the vaccine. Now being monitored,” she said.

“Everything has been seamless.”

Robredo has earlier said she has hypertension.

AstraZeneca has an efficacy rate of 70% after the first dose based on the evaluation of the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The 70% rating increases after the second dose is administered four to 12 weeks after.

Robredo called on Filipinos to get their COVID-19 vaccine, too.

“Magbakuna na din kayo para protektado kayo at ang lahat ng nakakasalamuha niyo,” she said.

(You should also get your COVID-19 vaccine to protect yourself and protect the people you interact with.)

The Philippines has at least 7.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine supply so far.

Of this number, around 3.2 million doses have been administered.

A total 2,512,942 Filipinos earlier received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 786,528 have completed their two doses as of May 18 based on government records.

The COVID-19 vaccine brands issued emergency use authorization by the Philippine Food and Drug Administration include: AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Pfizer-BioNTech, Janssen, Moderna, Covaxin and Sputnik V.
