Some LGUs cool towards OVP programs because I'm with the opposition –Robredo

Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday lamented that some local government units were unreceptive to her pandemic programs, adding that one of the LGUs allegedly refused to work with the Vice President's Office because she is a leader of the opposition.

In this week's radio program, Robredo said that most local government units are very "open" to partner with the Office of the Vice President in programs that would address the chain of virus infections among their communities.

(For example, with the Swab Cab, we had good relations with Malabon, Quezon City, Imus, Cavite, and Marikina. We are also exploring our projects with Manila.)

But for other local government units (LGUs), some were not cooperative with OVP's Community Learning Hubs, which was in 60 localities nationwide.

The OVP established learning hubs where students can use gadgets for distance learning during the pandemic. Most students who do not have learning spaces at home usually make use of these community hubs.

Naramdaman namin ito, Ka Ely, noong—iyong Community Learning Hubs," said Robredo.

(Some are not cooperative. It is a waste because this is for the children. We experienced this with the community learning hubs.)

May isang LGU na mas tinitingnan talaga yung ano, iyong the fact na nasa oposisyon ako," the vice president further said.

(I had a sad experience in Metro Manila, one of the LGUs, really looked at how I am from the opposition.)

Robredo further pointed out that regularly, 4,000 children needed gadgets to interact with their teachers during blended learning. — DVM, GMA News
