Classmate ‘relieved’ alleged vaccine seller is not on the run

"I'm relieved that he is not on the run."

This was  Norman Rabaya's reaction after his former high school classmate, Kyle Cedrick Bonifacio, surrendered to authorities for allegedly selling vaccine slots online.

"I think sunlight is the best disinfectant. it is better to put it out in the open," said Rabaya over in Mariz Umali's "24 Oras" report.

In a social media post that went viral, Rabaya disclosed that his former classmate offered him a slot to get injected with the Pfizer vaccine for P15,500.

Earlier, Bonifacio surrendered to Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos and Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Benhur Abalos Jr. The officials said it was Bonifacio's father, a barangay councilor, who informed them of the surrender.

Bonifacio, however, did not identify those who gave him the receipts as proof of purchase of vaccines. He also denied that his father was involved in the illicit sale of COVID-19 jab slots.

After Bonifacio underwent a medical exam, he was turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

According to authorities, those found selling vaccine slots, which are supposed to be free of charge, will be facing charges of estafa, bribery, corruption of public officers and violation of Bayanihan Law. — Consuelo Marquez/BM, GMA News
