Eleazar tells local tourists: Check destination's health rules

PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Wednesday advised the public to be familiar with the health rules and regulations against COVID-19 in destination places, after the government eased domestic travel restrictions.

In a statement, Eleazar said some local government units are imposing their own guidelines on accommodating visitors or tourists in their respective areas.

“Alamin po natin muna ang mga panuntunan na ipinatutupad ng mga lokalidad na inyong balak puntahan dahil may mga pagkakataon na naghihigpit pa rin po sila sa mga turista at may mga karagdagang sariling regulations,” he said.

(Check first the rules that are being implemented in your intended places of destinations because some areas are still strict on tourists and have their own additional regulations.)

Eleazar also reminded the public to keep complying with the minimum public health safety standards against the spread of COVID-19, even when the restrictions have already been eased.

Police personnel will continue enforcing guidelines from the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, including the adjustments in light of the eased restrictions, as well as local ordinances, Eleazar said.

On Tuesday, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the government has eased COVID-related restrictions on domestic travel.

In light of this, the government has allowed leisurely trips from NCR Plus to areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ regardless of age from June 1 to 15. —LBG, GMA News
