Dante leaves P268-M damage to infra in latest DPWH estimate

Latest damage estimate of Storm Dante to infrastructures stood at nearly P269 million so far, a Department of Public Works and Highways' report indicated Thursday.

In an update posted on its Facebook page, the DPWH said that of as of 6 a.m. Thursday, estimated damage to national roads and flood-control structures was at P268.52M.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said 270 equipment assets and 1,569 workers were deployed for the on-going clearing activities.

In Region 7 alone, partial cost of damage is at P106.2 million from P95M damaged roads, and P11.2M from flood-control structures; while in Region 12, partial damage estimate hit P162.32M from flood-control structures.

Also, Villar said DPWH is still clearing three impassable national road sections in the provinces of Cebu, Eastern Samar, and Agusan del Sur.

In Cebu, affected section is the Dalaguete-Mantalongon-Badian Road, in Brgy. Ablayan, Dalaguete, Cebu which is still flooded. DPWH has installed warning signs and will conduct clearing operation once the water has subsided.

DPWH Quick Response Team also closed the Wright-Taft-Borongan Road, K0861+(-439) - K0890+176, Camp.5 Bndry-Jct. Taft at Brgy. Binaloan, Taft, Eastern Samar for possible occurrence of landslide.

Butuan City-Talacogon-Loreto-Veruela-Sta. Josefa Road is also impassable, specifically the Adgawan Bridge in La Paz, Agusan del Sur due to embanked soil collapse on bridge approach.

Motorists may use the parallel bridge as an alternative route while the bridge is still being repaired, the DPWH said. —LBG, GMA News
