NTF-ELCAC wants Makabayan bloc out of Congress, says Badoy

The government’s anti-insurgency task force wants the Makabayan Bloc out of Congress through legal means, its spokesperson Undersecretary Lorraine Badoy said on Monday.

In a press conference, Badoy again claimed that some of the progressive group's solons are members of the Communist Party of the Philippines.

“Why do we want Makabayan bloc out of Congress? Very simple, the members of the Makabayan Bloc are high-ranking party members of the CPP-NPA-NDF,” she said.

“ They are in the Congress not to represent Filipino people but to represent the CPP-NPA-NDF We are working towards that through legal means,” she added.

NTF-ELCAC legal affairs spokesperson Marlon Bosantog said there have been many attempts to file disqualification cases against the Makabayan Bloc before the Commission of Elections.

“They were coming from private sector. They were filed against six party lists,” he said.

Bosantog said these cases were already dismissed. But the case that was filed by the NTF-ELCAC against women's rights party-list group Gabriela is ongoing.

“But the one that was filed by NTF-ELCAC was actually ongoing until now,” he said.

Bosantog accused Gabriela of using donations from abroad to fund the CPP, and of supplying arms, ammunition, and medical support to rebels. — BM, GMA News
