Person who exposed 'vaccine-slot-for-sale' surprised by inclusion in rap sheet

One of the individuals who posted alleged evidence of "vaccine slots for sale" in May said she was surprised after the Philippine National Police included her in the complaint filed against those allegedly behind the scam.

Nina Ellaine Dizon-Cabrera on Wednesday took to Twitter to air her concern about how she was "dragged into the scheme" when she exposed screenshots on May 21 of her conversation with one of those allegedly selling slots.

"As of writing, I have yet to receive anything from the complainant's end, but I am already in communication with my lawyer regarding this matter. The truth, as always, shall prevail," Cabrera said.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) filed complaints in Mandaluyong Prosecutor's Office against Cabrera, Cyle Bonifacio and Melvin Polo Gutierrez over the vaccine for slot sale.

The alleged suspects are facing cases of "Estafa under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code; and violation of Section 21-H of Republic Act 11032 or the Anti-Red Tape Law of 2007 and Section 6 of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012."

It can be recalled that Bonifacio previously surrendered to authorities for allegedly helping to facilitate the illicit sale of vaccine slots. He did not disclose his cohorts to the public.

No transaction

Last month, Cabrera posted her online exchanges with a person offering her vaccine slots.

Based on the messages, the unidentified facilitator of vaccine slots is offering Cabrera a slot for two doses of Sinovac vaccines for P6,000. For Pfizer, the unknown seller is offering a vaccine slot for complete Pfizer vaccination worth P12,000.

But Cabrera said she already turned down the offer and sent screenshots of her conversation to the local government to investigate.

"And no, we did not push through with the transaction. I'm not saying this is confirmed, I'm just sharing a sketchy conversation I had with someone who is apparently selling 'slots,'" Cabrera said in her previous tweet.

Cabrera was cited in a charge sheet which indicated that she offered 50 to 100 slots for inoculation in Mandaluyong.

Eleazar orders review

In response to Cabrera's statements, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Thursday said that he has ordered both the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) to review the charges filed against her "in order to check if there were lapses in the conduct of investigation and in the preparation of the cases."

"I assure Ms. Dizon-Cabera that I will personally monitor the progress of my order—and to correct if there are things that need correcting in the interest of truth and justice regarding this ‘vaccine/vaccine slot for sale’ controversy," he added in a statement. —NB/BM, GMA News
