VP Robredo on Noynoy's passing: Heartbreaking

Vice President Leni Robredo on Thursday mourned the death of former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, calling the former leader a good friend and an honest President.

“Nakakadurog ng puso ang balitang wala na si PNoy. Mabuti siyang kaibigan at tapat na Pangulo [His death is heartbreaking. He is a good friend and an honest President],” Robredo said in a statement.

“Nakikiramay ako sa kanyang pamilya [I mourn with his family],” she added.

Robredo said Aquino always tried his best to do what is right without fanfare and flamboyance.

“He tried to do what was right, even when it was not popular. Tahimik at walang pagod siyang nagtrabaho para makatulong sa marami [He is a quiet, tireless worker, and would work to help a lot of people],” she said.

“He will be missed,” she added.

Robredo is Aquino's party-mate in the Liberal Party.

Aquino, 61, died Thursday morning at the Capitol Medical Center, reports said. HIs family is expected to make an announcement within the day. —KBK, GMA News
