Ex-President Noynoy Aquino’s ashes depart from Ateneo


The ashes of former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III has already departed from Ateneo de Manila University and now headed to Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque for its inurnment.

After the necrological mass led by Archbishop Socrates Villegas, the honor guards have brought the urn inside a white coaster at 11:15 a.m. 

More or less 50 private vehicles were seen preparing to tail the white coaster carrying the remains of the former president.

The coaster started moving at 11:25 a.m.

Members of the Highway Patrol Group were seen assisting the convoy going to Manila Memorial Park.

A water salute was given by the fire brigade to the former president while the coaster departs from the premises of Ateneo.

His remains will be buried at the Manila Memorial alongside his parents, democracy icons Benigno Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon Aquino.

The country's 15th president, Aquino, 61, died on Thursday morning. His remains were cremated on the same day— Hana Bordey/RSJ, GMA News
