Duterte on Taal Volcano eruption: Siguro lagyan ko lang ng cap

President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday joked about putting a cap on Taal Volcano after it had a brief eruption on Thursday afternoon.

“Siguro lagyan ko lang ng cap... iyong butas...itong Taal na 'yan,” Duterte said at a press conference during the inauguration of LRT 2 East Extension Project.

Authorities have raised Alert Level 3 on Taal Volcano on Thursday as a result of the eruption.

On a serious note, Duterte assured that the Department of Social Welfare and Development had prepositioned goods and other relief aid for any eventuality related to Taal's activity.

"It could get worse but I said there will be instant gratification because there are workers on the ground ready," Duterte said.

The Taal Volcano last erupted and spewed significant amount of ash that damaged communities in Batangas in January 2020, two months before fhe country was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. —NB, GMA News
