5,392 new COVID-19 cases bring active tally to over 51K


The Philippines on Monday reported 5,392 new COVID-19 infections, pushing the country's total tally to 1,441,746, as 10 laboratories failed to submit data on time.

The Department of Health said the new cases brought the total active cases in the country to 51,594, of which, 91.1% are mild, 3.8% are asymptomatic, 2.1% are severe, and 1.5% are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries climbed to 1,364,960 after 6,477 more patients recovered from the viral disease.

The death roll rose to 25,192 with 43 new fatalities.

The DOH said 15 duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 20 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

Data from the DOH showed that 56% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 34% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.

In Metro Manila, 42% of the ICU beds are in use, while 30% of the ventilators are utilized.—LDF, GMA News
