Streets flooded as southwest monsoon dumps more rain in Metro Manila, Luzon provinces

More areas in Metro Manila and different provinces have reported flooding as the Typhoon Fabian-enhanced southwest monsoon continues to bring heavy rains to Luzon areas on Thursday.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said EDSA Shrine northbound (NB), EDSA Ortigas split NB, and POEA southbound (SB) have gutter-deep flood on Thursday afternoon.

Gutter-deep flood was also reported in Roxas Boulevard Pedro Gil SB and Roxas Blvd Quirino NB, it added.

The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said gutter-deep flood was reported in Quirino Corner Taft Avenue, Quirino Corner Leon Guinto, Pedro Gil Osmeña Highway and Abad Santos corner Bambang.

In Oriental Mindoro, the Provincial Information Office said the Alag River in Baco was swelling, which resulted in flooding in nearby areas.

The flood on Panggalaan Road in Calapan was also rising, the office added.

In Quirino, the Abra River is expected to overflow and the Cabaroan-Poblacion Spillway will not be passable anytime soon, provincial authorities said.

Residents in low-lying areas and near creeks were advised to evacuate due to possible flashflood.

In Mindoro Occidental, the Sta. Cruz Municipal Police Station said the detour of the Lumangbayan Spillway already collapsed. Due to this, people are prohibited from passing the flooded area.

Sitio Buboy in Barangay San Vicente was also flooded, the police station said.  —KBK, GMA News
