Duterte calls weekend IATF meeting over COVID-19 Delta variant cases

Malacañang said on Friday that President Rodrigo Duterte called for a meeting of  the government's task force on COVID-19 on Saturday amid the rising cases of the more infectious Delta variant.

"I confirm that President called a special meeting of the small IATF (inter-agency task force) tomorrow at 6 p.m.," presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said.

The Health Department confirmed local transmissions of the Delta variant, which can infect five to eight people in one sitting, late Thursday.
