TFBM: 18% of target permanent houses in war-ravaged Marawi finished

Four years after the siege that reduced the Islamic City of Marawi to rubbles, only 18% of the target number of permanent houses have so far been built in war-ravaged Lanao del Sur's provincial capital.

In the mid-year report of the Duterte administration, Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) indicated that the agency is still far off from its target 2,857 permanent houses.

"For the permanent houses, the TFBM already completed the construction of 528 out of the target 2,857 units, of which 370 were awarded to and occupied by families previously residing in danger areas," the report indicated.

Meanwhile, the task force has been able to establish 4,388 temporary shelters for internally-displaced persons while the rebuilding of their houses are ongoing.

Infra projects done by December

In the same report, TFBM chairman Secretary Eduardo del Rosario said the city's rehabilitation was 68% finished in June 2021 from 65%  in May 2021.

"The Secretary also reiterated that the TFBM is on track in completing all ongoing infrastructure projects by December 2021 and will finish the rehabilitation within the term of President Duterte," the report added.
