AFP to look more on ‘training, maintenance’ as C-130 crash probe soon to be released — Faustino

The Armed Forces of the Philippines will look more on “training side, maintenance, and all” as the investigation into the deadly C-130 crash in Sulu will be revealed soon, its chief Lieutenant General Jose Faustino Jr. said.

In an interview on CNN Philippines aired on Wednesday, Faustino said he does not want to preempt the probe and preferred to just wait for the release of the results of the investigation.

“These incidents can be avoided. We will try to look more on the training side, the maintenance and all,” Faustino said.

“Once lumabas ang investigation, ito ay agad naming papasapubliko (Once the investigation is released , we will publicize it),” he added.

On July 4, the C-130 crashed in Barangay Bangkal in Patikul after failing to land at the airport.

The death toll due to the crash stood at 53—50 soldiers and three civilians. Meanwhile, 46 servicemen and four civilians were injured.

The AFP earlier ruled out any foul play in the crash. The Philippine Air Force (PAF), meanwhile, already denied speculations that there was overloading among passengers. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
