AFP identifies all 50 fatalities in Sulu C-130 plane crash


The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Friday said it has already identified all the 50 soldiers who died in the C-130 plane crash in Sulu.

In a statement, the AFP said the recently identified cadavers were from:

  • Corporal Dexter E Estrada (Philippine Army)
  • Corporal Reynel A Matundin (Philippine Army)
  • Corporal Gulam H Ismael (Philippine Army)
  • Private First Class Bengie S Malanog (Philippine Army)
  • Private Ian R Azuelo (Philippine Army)
  • Private Erwin M Canton (Philippine Army)
  • Private Mansueto B Lingatong III (Philippine Army)
  • Private Mar Jhun T Capagngan (Philippine Army)
  • Private Michael C Dalore (Philippine Army)
  • Airman Second Class Glen Mar G Biscocho (Philippine Air Force)

According to the AFP, the remains have already been transported to their hometowns to be reunited with their families.

“The AFP condoles with the families of our deceased comrades in this time of grief,” it said, adding that support and assistance as well as benefits will be provided to the families.

According to the AFP, the PNP-SOCO helped in identifying the 50 cadavers of the military personnel.

On July 4, the C-130 crashed in Barangay Bangkal in Patikul after failing to land at the airport.

The death toll due to the crash was at 53, broken down to 50 soldiers and three civilians. Meanwhile, 46 servicemen and four civilians were injured.

Most of the fatalities in the crash were burned beyond recognition.

“The memories of our brave comrades who paid the ultimate sacrifice will live on not only in their families but throughout the military organization who continues to risk everything to achieve just and lasting peace for our nation,” the AFP said.
