Galvez: FDA issues EUA for single dose COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik Light

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez said Monday that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for the single-dose Sputnik Light COVID-19 vaccine.

"The FDA has approved EUA for Sputnik V na one dose na siya. We have 10 million doses, so 10 million na tao ang makikinabang," Galvez said.

"Full protection na itong Sputnik Light, like Johnson and Johnson na single dose," Galvez added.

According to the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Sputnik Light showed a 79.4 percent efficacy rate compared with 91.6 percent for the two-shot Sputnik V.

Around 13 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 so far, with the government aiming to vaccinate 76.3 million by the end of the year to achieve herd immunity. — DVM, GMA News
