90,000 Malabon locals receive nutrition packages amid MECQ

Over 90,000 beneficiaries in Malabon received nutrition packages from the city government to help in their food security amid the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

In a press statement, the Malabon City government said its “Kalinga sa Kalusugan” package contained rice, vegetables, and eggs, among other food items.

The goods were sourced from farmers whose livelihoods were also affected by the pandemic.

Malabon Councilor Lorenzo "Enzo" Oreta said nutritious food was essential, especially as coronavirus variants continue to sprout in communities.

A Malabon beneficiary, Crisanta Lara Junio, said that the food package would be beneficial to them as it was an opportunity to have fresh food rather than canned goods.

Malabon City Health Department recorded 18,820 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 including 17,236 and 580 deaths.
