Senate unable to subpoena alleged Yang associate due to incorrect address

The Senate's Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) tried to serve a subpoena on a Chinese businessman being linked to former Presidential Adviser Michael Yang but failed to do so because the given address was incorrect.

During the resumption of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee inquiry into the government's questionable purchase of COVID-19 supplies on Monday, panel secretary Rodolfo Quimbo said the OSAA tried to issue the subpoena to Lin Wei Xiong and his wife Rose Nono Lin, but the address was wrong.

Lin Wei Xiong was believed to be Allan Lim, who was allegedly involved in illegal drugs and has ties with Yang.

"Your honor, a subpoena was issued by the committee, the OSAA in their report said that the subpoena to both was not served because according to the guard on duty at the administrative office of La Fuerza, the tenant of Warehouse 8 is Ideastream, owned by a certain Jon Dionisio," Quimbo said.

"He also said that since he started working in La Fuerza eight years ago, Ideastream has always been the tenant of Warehouse 8. According to the security guard, Ideastream has not resumed its operations since the start of the pandemic in March 2020," he added.

Quimbo said the address was obtained from the Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation.

Panel chairperson Senator Richard Gordon then said he received a letter from Rose's lawyers, indicating the address where the subpoena could be issued.

Gordon said the OSAA should serve the subpoena on this address: No. 747 Quirino Highway, Barangay San Bartolome in Novaliches, Quezon City.

To recall, Gordon had shown a picture of Yang’s meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte in 2017, which was broadcast on RTVM. In the said footage, Yang and Duterte were with Allan Lim.

Yang has since denied knowing Allan Lim, but he said he knew the man by the name of Lin Wei Xiong. He had known him since 2013.

Rose, on the other hand, was reportedly the corporate secretary of Paili Holdings. — DVM, GMA News
