COVID-19 reproduction in NCR Plus 8 declining –OCTA


The COVID-19 reproduction number has continued to decline in the metropolis with all the other regions in the NCR Plus 8 also showing a downward trend, according to the OCTA Research Group.

OCTA Fellow Dr. Guido David on Sunday said the National Capital Region production has slowed to 0.83 as of October 2, 2021 from 0.98 last week, with a 16% positivity rate.

Likewise, OCTA said that the highest reproduction number was recorded in Davao City at 0.89, followed by Pampanga and Rizal both at 0.85, and the NCR at 0.83.

Following Metro Manila are Batangas with 0.74, Bulacan with 0.70, Laguna with 0.68, Cebu City with 0.66, and Cavite with 0.63.

On Saturday, October 2,  the Philippines reported 14,784 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the country’s active cases to 144,061 with the total caseload at 2,580,173 --including 2,397,456 recoveries, and 38,656 deaths. —LBG, GMA News
