The Philippines reported 13,273 new COVID-19 infections on Sunday, bringing the number of active cases in the country to 112,008.

The Department of Health said the new cases brought the country's total COVID-19 caseload to 2,593,399.

Of the over 112,000 active cases, 85.8% are mild, 6.1% are asymptomatic, 2.5% are severe, and 1.1% are in critical condition.

Total recoveries, meanwhile, increased by 45,249 to 2,442,623. This is the highest daily recovery count since the 72,607 in April 18.

The death toll rose to 38,768 with 112 new fatalities.

The DOH said 47 duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 47 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

The DOH said all laboratories were operational on October 1, while three laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.

"The DOH is in constant coordination with the DICT to resolve technical issues with COVIDKaya. DOH will then again issue necessary public advisories should there be delayed in issuance of the case bulletin in the next days," the department said.

Further, data from the DOH also showed that 72% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 53% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.

In Metro Manila, 74% of the ICU beds are in use, while 56% of the ventilators are utilized. — BM, GMA News
