Ex-President Arroyo eyes House comeback in Eleksyon 2022

Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has filed her certificate of candidacy for Pampanga representative in the 2022 polls.

The development was confirmed by her son, Pampanga Representative Mikey Arroyo, according to a tweet by Super Radyo dzBB's Isa Avendaño-Umali on Monday.

The former Philippine leader's COC was filed by her lawyer, Peter Paul Maglalang, with the Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor in San Fernando, Pampanga on October 1.

Mrs. Arroyo is coming off a three-year break in politics since finishing her three consecutive three-year terms as Pampanga representative from 2010 to 2019.

She spent her last year in the House of Representatives as the chamber's Speaker, replacing Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez during the same day of President Rodrigo Duterte's third State of the Nation Address in July 2018.

Mrs. Arroyo, Lakas-CMD president emeritus, served as Philippine President from 2001 to 2010, Vice President from 1998 to 2001 and a senator from 1992 to 1998. — Llanesca T. Panti/RSJ, GMA News
