COC filing for Eleksyon 2022 peaceful, orderly so far —PNP

The filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) for Eleksyon 2022 has been peaceful and orderly so far, the Philippine National Police said on Monday, the fourth day of the process conducted by the Commission on Elections.

In a statement, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said that the police will remain vigilant in securing the activity up to its last day on October 8.

“Nasa kalagitnaan na tayo ng filing of COC at ng [certificate of nomination and acceptance] at nananatiling maayos at tahimik ang prosesong ito sa nakalipas na tatlong araw,” he said.

(We are already in the middle of the period for the filing of COC and CONA and the process has been orderly and peaceful in the past three days.)

Eleazar expressed confidence that the peaceful and orderly filing of COCs and CONAs will be maintained until it closes.

Around 3,000 police officers, soldiers, and members of the Philippine Coast Guard and the Bureau of Fire Protection have been deployed to secure the Sofitel compound, where the filing is being held.

Fire trucks, police armored vehicles, and ambulances are also on standby.

PNP National Capital Regional Police Office chief Police Major General Vicente Danao also said that security measures are in place. — BM, GMA News
