DOH: 7,181 new COVID-19 cases logged amid low lab output
The Department of Health on Wednesday reported 7,181 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the country's total tally to 2,690,455.
The DOH said the "relatively low" number of cases was due to lower laboratory output on October 11.
The number of new cases is the lowest since the 8,292 infections on Monday.
On Tuesday, the DOH also reported "relatively low" 8,615 cases due to lower laboratory output on Sunday.
The new cases brought the country's active case count to 82,411, of which 75.3% are mild, 12.1% are asymptomatic, 3.7% are severe, and 1.6% are in critical condition.

Total recoveries increased to 2,567,975 after 6,889 more patients defeated the viral disease.
The death toll breached the 40,000-mark with 173 new fatalities, raising the death toll to 40,069.
The DOH said 98 duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 101 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been reclassified as deaths after final validation.
The DOH said all laboratories were operational on October 11, while two laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
Data from the DOH also showed that 67% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 49% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.
In Metro Manila, 65% of the ICU beds are in use, while 50% of the ventilators are utilized.—LDF, GMA News
