PNP: Bomb-making materials seized, 2 suspects arrested

Police and military operatives on Thursday seized a cache of bomb-making materials, and arrested two suspects in a buy-bust operation in Cavite, the Philippine National Police said Friday.

In a statement, the PNP identified the suspects as Charlito Tenorio, 52, and Jay-Ar Amonggo Suson, 34.

PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said Tenorio was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bacao 2, General Trias City at 12:30 p.m.

Alleged mastermind Suson, was later arrested in Tayabas, Quezon at 5:30 p.m.

Seized from the suspects were 750 kilograms of ammonium nitrate in 30 sacks, and 1,000 pieces of improvised blasting caps that were all loaded in a commuter van.

Eleazar said explosive materials are “commonly used for industrial purposes, but can also be used as components for Improvised Explosive Device (IED).”
