The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported 3,656 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest daily infections recorded since July 13, as two laboratories failed to submit data on time.

The new infections bring the nationwide tally to 2,735,369. Active cases, meanwhile, stood at 67,061.

Of these cases, 77.9% are mild, 6.8% are asymptomatic, 8.69% are moderate, 4.6% are severe, and 2.0% are in critical condition.

Total recoveries climbed by 228 to 2,627,331, while five new fatalities pushed the death toll to 40,977.

Data also showed that intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide remained at high risk with 59% of the total 4,300 ICU beds in use.

At least 44% of the 14,800 ward beds in the country were utilized, while 39% of the 4,200 ward beds in the National Capital Region (NCR) were in use.

Based on the latest report, the DOH said all laboratories were operational since October 18, while there were two laboratories that failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.

The government administers 70,000 to 90,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to the general adult population daily, the National Vaccines Operation Center (NVOC) said on Wednesday.

The health department previously said the rollout of the vaccination for the general adult population was simultaneously conducted nationwide on October 7. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA News
