Moderna vaccine doses nearing expiration to be used within 30 days — Galvez

Some 200,000 Moderna COVID-19 vaccine doses that are set to expire in November will be used “as soon as possible,” Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said Thursday.

“Kayang-kaya po ‘yung 30 days na gagawin naming first dose ‘yan,” said Galvez, the government’s vaccine czar, at a press conference.

(We can administer them as first dose within 30 days.)

“I would like to assure the public that we can use the Moderna [vaccine] as soon as possible,” he said.

Galvez made the statement after it was reported that 400,000 Moderna COVID-19 vaccine doses procured by the private sector would expire next month.

“For your information, ang pagkakaalam po namin ay 200,000 na lang po ang natitira (what we know is that there are only 200,000 doses left),” he said.

A total of 99,551,290 vaccine doses have been delivered by several manufacturers to the Philippines as of Thursday noon, according to the National Task Force Against COVID-19.  — VBL, GMA News
