PNP: Over 125,000 violators reported in NCR amid Alert Level 3

A total of 125,263 quarantine violators have been reported in the National Capital Region (NCR) since the implementation of Alert Level 3 as of Thursday, data from the Philippine National Police (PNP) showed Friday.

At least 11,661 violators were newly reported on Thursday, according to the PNP. A daily average of 9,636 violators was being reported from October 16 to 28.

Around 57% of the violators were warned, 36% were fined, while 7% faced other sanctions.

A total of 93,700 violators or 7,208 daily have violated minimum public health standards amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

For curfew, a total of 30,899 violators or 2,377 daily were reported in Metro Manila.

A total of 664 who are not considered authorized persons outside residence (APORs) were also caught outdoors.

The NCR will be under Alert Level 3 from October 16 until 31.

Several establishments will be allowed to operate at 30% indoor venue capacity only for fully vaccinated individuals and 50% outdoor venue capacity, provided that all employees are fully vaccinated.

Curfew in Metro Manila has been shortened to 12 midnight to 4 a.m. starting October 13.

On Thursday, Interior and Local Government spokesperson Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said the NCR is expected to shift to Alert Level 2 in November.

He cited the continuous decline of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila for two weeks as one of the reasons. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
