Sara discourages Sara All caravan, calls it unwise, unnecessary

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Tuesday asked organizers of a Cotabato-to-Manila caravan urging her to run for president to forego the motorcade, saying it was "extremely unwise" amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sara All Philippines 2022 caravan is scheduled from November 4 to 15.

"In the times of the Covid 19 pandemic, it is extremely unwise to move around the country," Sara said in a statement.

"I am urging the organizers and the supporters to translate your expression of support into something productive and relevant to society," she added.

Sara said the caravan was unnecessary as she already made the decision as early as September not to run for president in the 2022 elections.

"You can use your money to buy food to feed the hungry and the poor and to conduct other activities that benefit those who have less in life and the underprivileged," Sara said.

"Let us not unnecessarily contribute to global warming. Let us save on fuel," she added.

"Your overwhelming support and trust in me are not being unnoticed. They are deeply appreciated," Sara said.

There had been calls for Duterte to run for president but she has insisted that she wanted to finish her third and last term as Davao City mayor.

She filed her certificate of candidacy for mayor on October 2. -NB, GMA News
