Over 31,000 people affected by granular lockdowns nationwide —Año


A total of 31,178 people were affected by the implementation of granular lockdowns across the country as of Monday, Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año said.

During President Rodrigo Duterte's talk to the nation aired Wednesday morning, Año said imposing granular lockdowns has been effective in curbing the spread of COVID-19.

“Makikita po natin na very effective ang ating ginagawa na granular lockdown alongside sa ating bagong alert level system. Ito na rin po ay dala dahil sa epektibo talaga ang ating pagbabakuna,” he said.

(We can see that granular lockdowns alongside alert level system are effective. This is also because of our effective vaccination.)

At least 432 areas are under granular lockdown, affecting 7,232 households in 283 barangays.

No granular lockdown is currently reported in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Eastern Visayas, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and Bangsamoro, based on the data presented by Año.

The Philippine National Police on Wednesday reported 43 areas that are under granular lockdown in the National Capital Region as of Tuesday.

A granular lockdown is defined as micro-level quarantine for areas classified as "critical zones" by the local government unit. —KG, GMA News
