Marcos Jr., Sotto lead SWS commissioned survey

Former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., son of dictator Ferdinand Marcos, emerged as the country's top presidential bet months before the May 9, 2022 elections, a commissioned Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed.

A "24 Oras" report  on Monday quoted the poll conducted from October 20 to 23, which showed that Marcos Jr. had a score of 47%, followed by Vice President Leni Robredo who had a score of 18%.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno claimed the third spot with 13% followed by Senator Manny Pacquiao with 9%, Senator Panfilo Lacson with 5% and Senator Bato dela Rosa with 5%.

The survey was commissioned by Stratbase ADR Institute of former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario.

The pollster used interviews of 1,200 respondents which were chosen through random sampling. It also has a sampling error margin of  ±3%.

Respondents were given the question: "Kung ang eleksyon ay gaganapin ngayon, sino po ang pinakamalamang ninyong iboboto bilang Presidente ng Pilipinas? (If elections were to happen today, who will you vote as the country's president?)."

In the vice presidential poll, Senate President Vicente Sotto III led the possible bets with 44%, followed by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte with 25%.

Following is Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan with 13%, former senatorial aspirant Dr. Willie Ong with 13% and Buhay Party-list Representative Lito Atienza.

For the senatorial race, broadcaster Raffy Tulfo topped the election survey with 60%.

Former senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero was second place with 51%, then Taguig Representative Alan Peter Cayetano with 50%.

They were followed by former Senator Loren Legarda with 45%, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri with 44%, former Vice President Jojo Binay with 40%, Mark Villar with 40%, and Senator Risa Hontiveros with 36%.

Former senator Jinggoy Estrada claimed the ninth spot with 33%, actor Robin Padilla with 29%, and newsman Noli De Castro, who had a score of 28%, landed the 11th spot despite dropping his senatorial bid in October.

To complete the Magic 12, Senator Joel Villanueva had a score of 27%.—Consuelo Marquez/LDF, GMA News
