Lorenzana tests positive for COVID-19 anew

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Wednesday confirmed that he again tested positive for COVID-19.

In a message to reporters, Lorenzana, who is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, said he was asymptomatic.

"Yes," Lorenzana said on whether he was positive for the coronavirus.

"This morning, I got the result of my swab test yesterday afternoon after the Senate hearing," he said.

Lorenzana also tested positive for COVID-19 in April.

The defense chief was in the Senate on Tuesday as the senators debated on the proposed budget in 2022 of the Department of National Defense.

Due to this, the Senate is considering suspending plenary debates on the 2022 budget bill.

Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri asked the Senate staff, the secretariat, and those in contact with Lorenzana on Tuesday to get tested after five days.

Apart from the senators and their staff members, Zubiri said the Hungarian delegation, who visited the Senate on Tuesday, was also exposed. -NB, MA News
