Dizon: I am not part of any political campaign

Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon of the National Task Force Against COVID-19 on Thursday  denied being a part of any political campaign.

Dizon issued the statement after political strategist Lito Banayo was earlier reported to have said that the testing czar is with the camp of Manila Mayor and presidential aspirant Isko Moreno.

Banayo, the campaign manager of Moreno, has since clarified that Dizon will join the team "eventually."

"I confirm the statement of Cabinet Secretary and acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles that I am not involved in any political campaign," Dizon said.

"My focus is on the national government’s overall COVID-19 response and recovery, including the country’s vaccination program," he added.

Dizon, however, did not say if he will eventually join Moreno's campaign team as Banayo has said.

Before Banayo clarified his statement, Nograles denied Banayo's comments that Dizon is already on board Moreno's campaign team.

Dizon, who also serves as the government's "testing czar" amid the COVID-19 pandemic, resigned as president and chief executive officer of the state-run Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) in October. — RSJ, GMA News
