Eraserheads to rock Pinoy fans in UK

Eraserheads fans in the United Kingdom rejoice!

Nearly six years after their well-attended reunion show "The Last Set," the popular Pinoy rock band is set to kick off another international tour after a successful run in the United States and Singapore in 2012 and 2013.

According to an announcement by promoter Finest Workers, the Eraserheads will play the Apollo theater in Hammersmith, London, on April 4 to start off their UK tour.

Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Marcus Adoro, and Buddy Zabala will bring their repertoire of songs to England, Scotland, and Wales before rounding off the tour in Northern Ireland.

Nicknamed the "Fab Four" of the Philippines, the Eraserheads are behind popular 90s Pinoy rock songs “Pare Ko,” “Huling El Bimbo" and "Alapaap," just to name a few.

After splitting up in 2002, the band reunited in 2008 for a concert, but the event was cut short because of Buendia's health problems. The band successfully completed their reunion concert, named "The Last Set," in 2009  even after the death of Buendia's mother and guest singer Francis Magalona days before the event.

When asked why the group decided to reunite, Buendia told Yahoo News in 2013 that he wanted his children to tour the world, and denied that the band's choice was entirely centered around money.

"People will scoff at this, but it's really not about the money. We could be earning the same amount over here, albeit with more gigs, and with less hassle," said Buendia.

He added that the band wanted 2009's concert to be final, but pressure from fans abroad, as well as relatives and friends abroad, moved them to "give in." — Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
