Improvised bomb detonated at a Cotabato City inn

Bomb experts successfully detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) left behind a still unidentified suspect at a Cotabato City inn. Sutp. Danny Reyes, the city chief of police, said an attendant of the Notre Dame inn notice the baggage left by a suspect who checked in late on Wednesday night. The attendant reported to the police and the Marines that a suspicious baggage was left behind by the suspect. Reyes said the authorities found the IED at about 8:00 p.m. but the guest who checked in could not be found anymore. The inn management could not say why they failed to get the identity of the suspect. However, they said the suspect allegedly came from Davao City. Reyes said the IED was fashioned from an M-203 grenade and a mobile phone was used as a trigger mechanism. - VVP, GMA News
