Two candidates vying for Iggy Arroyo's post in June 2 special polls in Negros

Two candidates are vying to represent the 5th District of Negros Occidental during the special polls on June 2 to fill up the post vacated by the late Rep. Iggy Arroyo, who passed away in January this year.

The two candidates are Binalbagan Mayor Alejandro Mirasol and his nephew, Board Member Emilio Yulo III.

According to Resolution No. 9402 of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the voting will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

However, if after 3:00 p.m., there are still voters within 30 meters in front of the polling place who have not yet cast their votes, the voting will continue.

“The poll clerk shall, without delay, prepare a complete list containing the names of said voters consecutively numbered," the Comelec resolution said. "The voters listed shall be called to vote by the poll clerk by announcing each name three (3) times in the order in which they are listed. Any voter in the list who is not present when called shall not be allowed to vote at any later time,” it added.

Comelec data showed that there are 206,533 registered voters in the district. - VVP, GMA News
